4 tablespoons | 60ml | Potatoes - boiled (large) |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Onions - chopped (large) |
4 | Green chiles - (to 5), slit in | |
1 | Strips | |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Channa dal |
1 | Ginger - finely chopped | |
Salt - to taste | ||
Hing - to taste | ||
Mustard seeds - to taste |
An accompaniment to Dosai, Chapati, etc.
Heat oil, fry channa dal until golden brown. Add dash of hing and crackle mustard. Saute onions and green chiles until golden brown. Throw in a few (ca 4) cups of water, add ginger and salt. Let cook for a while. Mash potatoes and dump into above.
