Shorba (Onion Soup With Mint And Walnut) Recipe - Cooking Index
3 | Onions - chopped | |
4 tablespoons | 60ml | Butter |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Flour - sieved |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Mint leaves - crushed |
1/4 cup | 36g / 1.3oz | Walnuts - coarsely chopped |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Sugar |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Pepper |
Salt - to taste |
Preparation time: 5 minutes Cooking time: 10 minutes
1. Heat butter and fry onions until they are transparent.
2. Stir in the flour and cook until flour is golden brown.
3. There should be no lumps.
4. Add crushed mint leaves, salt and pepper, and walnuts.
5. Fry for a few minutes. Add 5 cups of water and sugar to taste.
6. Bring to boil and simmer for 10 minutes
