Pulikkaachal (Tamarind Chutney)

Recipe Ingredients

  An orange-sized tamarind ball
1 tablespoon 15mlJaggery - powdered
1 teaspoon 5mlTurmeric
12   Green chiles - chopped
4 sections  Curry leaves - chopped
1   Ginger - chopped
  Salt - to taste
  For Seasoning
1 teaspoon 5mlBlack mustard seeds
1 teaspoon 5mlBlack gram dal
3   Red chiles - broken
4 tablespoons 60mlOil

Recipe Instructions

Extract juice from tamarind. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, black gram dal and red chiles. When brown, add green chiles and curry leaves and fry for a couple of minutes. Now add tamarind juice, jaggery, turmeric, salt and ginger. Cook until mixture is thick. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
