Moong Halvah Recipe - Cooking Index
1 cup | 237ml | Moong dhal* |
1/4 lb | 113g / 4oz | Butter - (1 cube) |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Sugar |
1 cup | 237ml | Water |
* (wash well, puree with water to make a pasty mixture)
You will need a candy thermometer.
Heat butter in deep pan. When it bubbles, add the moong paste and stir and fry until golden brown. Set aside.
Cook sugar and water together to 204 degrees F.
Pour the syrup over the fried beans and stir very well. Pour onto platter and cut, as above; decorate with almond halves etc.
