Frizzled Onions Recipe - Cooking Index
3/4 cup | 46g / 1.6oz | Unbleached all-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Freshly-ground white pepper |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Pure California or New Mexico chile powder - optional |
Vegetable oil - for frying | ||
2 | Onions - sliced very thinly (medium) separated into rings |
Combine the flour, salt, pepper and chile powder in a bowl.
In a large saucepan or a deep fryer, add oil to a depth of 2 inches and heat to 360 degrees. Dredge onions in seasoned flour, shake off excess and deep fry until golden brown and crisp. Drain on paper towels. Can be made 2 hours ahead.
