Green Khichidi Recipe - Cooking Index
1 cup | 237ml | Green moong dal |
1/2 cup | 80g / 2.8oz | Rice - up to 3/4, up to |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Turmeric powder |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Ghee |
Salt to taste | ||
6 cups | 1422ml | Water - (6 to 7) |
Wash both dal and rice together. Soak for an hour in salted water. Add half the turmeric.
Pressure cook dal with half the water. It gets done in about 4 whistles.
Transfer to a large saucepan, add remaining water, turmeric, ghee and add more salt if required.
Cook while stirring, till the khichidi is thick and well mixed. Mash a little if desired.
Serve hot with more ghee (optional) and kadhi.
