Easy Marinara Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Onion - diced |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Olive oil |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Minced garlic |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Dried basil |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Dried oregano |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Freshly-ground black pepper |
1 | Crushed tomatoes - (28 oz) |
In a medium saucepan, saute the onion in the olive oil, for 3 minutes to soften. Add the garlic and saute an additional 1 to 2 minutes while stirring constantly, or until fragrant but not browned.
Add the dried herbs, salt, and pepper, and saute an additional 30 seconds. Add the crushed tomatoes, stir well to combine, reduce the heat to low, and simmer the mixture for 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
Use as a sauce for pasta, pizza, main dishes, sandwiches, or side dishes.
This recipe yields 3 1/2 cups.
