Sesame-Coated Tofu Recipe - Cooking Index
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Tamari |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Extra-firm tofu - cut into 8 |
Triangle-shaped slices, 1/2" thick | ||
1/3 cup | 78ml | Tahini |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Fresh lemon juice |
1/2 cup | 55g / 1.9oz | Sesame seeds |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Vegetable oil |
Brush 1 tablespoon tamari over tofu slices and set aside.
Combine tahini, 1/3 cup water, lemon juice and remaining 1 tablespoon tamari in blender or food processor and process until smooth. Transfer mixture to shallow bowl.
Place sesame seeds on plate. Dip and coat tofu slices in tahini mixture, then in sesame seeds.
In large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add coated tofu slices and cook until lightly browned, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Work in two batches if necessary. Serve hot.
This recipe yields 4 servings.
