2 cups | 474ml | Fresh basil |
1 cup | 237ml | Fresh Italian parsley |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Grated Parmesan or romano cheese |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Pine nuts - toasted |
4 | Garlic cloves - roughly chopped | |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Red pepper flakes |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Olive oil |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Lemon juice |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Water |
Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender. Puree until the mixture forms a smooth, thick paste.
This recipe yields 3 cups.
Pizza Toppings for Pesto Sauce: Sliced crimini mushrooms, reconstituted sun-dried tomatoes, sliced black olives, shaved Parmesan cheese.
