Hearty Hamburger Tomato Stew Recipe - Cooking Index
Easy and tasty, and it freezes well.
Courses: Soup1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Ground beef or turkey |
1 1/4 cups | 78g / 2.8oz | Chopped onions |
2 cups | 220g / 7.8oz | Sliced peeled carrots |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Chopped green peppers |
1 cup | 237ml | Sliced mushrooms |
1 | Cut green beans - (16 oz) - drained | |
1 | Corn - (16 oz) - drained | |
3 | Celery ribs - chopped | |
1 | Tomato juice - (46 oz) | |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Sugar |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Celery seeds |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste |
In a large saucepan, brown the ground meat. Mix in remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool and freeze. To prepare for serving: Thaw the stew. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes.
This recipe yields 8 servings.
