Green Chile Stew Recipe - Cooking Index

Cooking oil - as needed | ||
1 | Onion - chopped (small) | |
2 | Potatoes - (to 4) - cubed | |
8 oz | 227g | Fresh green chiles - roasted, peeled, |
And chopped | ||
(or frozen or canned chiles) | ||
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Garlic salt |
(or 1 to 2 garlic cloves, minced) | ||
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
6 cups | 1422ml | Water or broth - (to 7 cups) |
Brown meat in a little oil in a large heave stew pot. Add onions and diced potatoes and brown with meat. After browning pour off any excess fat. Add remaining ingredients, bring to a boil and simmer 30 minutes to 1 hour. Serve with warm flour tortillas.
