1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Ground ham |
1 | Tomatoes - (28 oz) | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Freshly-ground black pepper |
1/2 cup | 80g / 2.8oz | Uncooked rice |
1 | Onion - diced | |
1 | Bay leaf | |
1 | Peas - (abt 14 oz) | |
1 cup | 110g / 3.9oz | Diced carrots |
Brown meat in a Dutch oven. Add tomatoes, salt, pepper, rice, onion, bay leaf, peas and carrots. Cover; cook over high heat until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 1 hour. Remove bay leaf; serve.
This recipe yields 4 to 6 servings.
