Turnip Mashed Potatoes

Recipe Ingredients

6 tablespoons 90mlRed new potatoes - skin on (large)
2 tablespoons 30mlTurnips - peeled (large)
1/2 cup 118mlCream - heated
8 tablespoons 120mlButter - (1 stick) - melted
1/2 cup 118mlSour cream
  Salt - to taste
  Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste

Recipe Instructions

Slice potatoes and turnips 1/4-inch thick. Cook in boiling water for 15 minutes or until fork-tender. Drain.

Whip unpeeled cooked potatoes and turnips with electric mixer, mixing until moderately smooth (don't overbeat them; a few lumps are nice). Add hot cream, butter, and sour cream. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Whip again until blended. Adjust thickness by adding more cream, if desired.

This recipe yields 8 servings.
