Mae Dawson's Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/3 cups | 263g / 9.3oz | Sugar |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | All-purpose flour - unsifted |
1/2 | Whipping cream - (1 cup) | |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Milk |
1 | Unbaked 9" pie shell | |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Butter - cut small pieces |
1 | Nutmeg |
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Combine sugar, flour, cream, and milk in a mixing bowl. Pour into pie shell. Dot butter bits all around top of pie. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake for approximately 10 minutes, and then reduce the heat to 350 degrees and cook for approximately 30 more minutes. Cool to room temperature and then refrigerate until chilled. Serve chilled.
This recipe yields 6 to 8 servings.
Cook's Note: If using a glass baking dish, lower oven temperature by 25 degrees.
