Sunny Apple Crisp

A crisp is one of the easiest desserts that a nonbaker can make.

Recipe Ingredients

4 tablespoons 60mlCold unsalted butter - cut into pieces
1/2 cup 80g / 2.8ozLight-brown sugar - (packed)
1/2 cup 31g / 1.1ozAll-purpose flour
1/2 cup 31g / 1.1ozRolled oats
1 teaspoon 5mlGround cinnamon
1/2 cup 73g / 2.6ozChopped walnuts
4   Apples - peeled, cored,
  And cut into 1/2" dice
2 tablespoons 30mlFresh lemon juice
  Optional
  Vanilla ice cream or heavy cream - for serving

Recipe Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8-inch square baking dish.

For the topping, combine the butter, sugar, flour, oats and cinnamon in a bowl. Work the ingredients together with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Toss in the walnuts and set aside.

Toss the apples with the lemon juice and spoon into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the reserved topping mixture evenly over the apples. Bake in the center of the oven for 1 hour or until bubbly and the apples are tender.

Let Sunny Apple Crisp cool slightly. Serve warm, topped with ice cream or cream, if desired.
