Apple Horseradish Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
When cutting the apple, slice it as thin as possible. This horseradish sauce works well not only with my Grilled Trout (see recipe) but also with any smoked white fish.
Courses: Sauces3 tablespoons | 45ml | Prepared horseradish - plus |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Prepared horseradish - drained, and squeezed dry |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Mayonnaise |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Cider vinegar |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Whole-grain mustard |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Dijon mustard |
1 1/4 teaspoons | 6.3ml | Sugar |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1 | Cayenne pepper | |
1/4 | Cored Granny Smith apple with peel - thinly sliced | |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Finely-chopped red onion |
Whisk all of the ingredients except for the apple and the onion in a large bowl until well blended. Add the apple and onion, and fold in gently. Refrigerate for several hours to allow the flavors to blend.
Per 2 tablespoons: 52 calories, 3g carbohydrates, no protein, 5g fat, 3mg cholesterol.
