Mary Livingston's Spaghetti And Meat Balls

  Meatballs
2 lbs 908g / 32ozGround round steak
3 lbs 1362g / 48ozEggs (large)
2   Bread - soaked in water
10   Garlic - mince
4 tablespoons 60mlParsley - chop fine
  Rest Of Recipe
2 tablespoons 30mlOlive oil
1/2 cup 31g / 1.1ozOnion - chop fine
1 cup 237mlTomato paste
1 1/4   Water - hot
1   Soda
1   Bay leaf

Recipe Instructions

Combine ingredients for meatballs; mix thoroughly. Form into balls the size of walnuts. Heat olive oil in heavy skillet. Brown meat balls, and remove. Combine onion, tomato paste, water, soda, and bay leaf in the skillet with the oil and meat drippings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer for five minutes. Add the meat balls, continue to simmer for 45 minutes.
