Walnut Stuffing Recipe - Cooking Index
10 cups | 2370ml | Finely-torn day-old bread - (abt 7 slices) |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Butter |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Dried sage |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Dried thyme |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Coarsely-chopped walnuts |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Chopped onion |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste | ||
2 | Egg yolks | |
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Boiling water |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Melted butter - (optional) |
Mix together the bread, butter, sage, thyme, walnuts, onion, salt and pepper to taste, and the egg yolks. Stir in the boiling water to make the dressing moist and sticky.
Spoon into the cavity of a turkey and bake according to instructions.
Or, spread the stuffing in a buttered 13- by 9-inch baking dish. Brush the surface with the melted butter. Bake at 325 degrees until it begins to brown around the edges, 45 to 55 minutes.
This recipe yields 8 to 10 servings.
