Walnut Stuffing

Recipe Ingredients

10 cups 2370mlFinely-torn day-old bread - (abt 7 slices)
1 tablespoon 15mlButter
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlDried sage
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlDried thyme
1 cup 146g / 5.1ozCoarsely-chopped walnuts
1/2 cup 31g / 1.1ozChopped onion
  Salt - to taste
  Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste
2   Egg yolks
1 1/2 cups 355mlBoiling water
2 tablespoons 30mlMelted butter - (optional)

Recipe Instructions

Mix together the bread, butter, sage, thyme, walnuts, onion, salt and pepper to taste, and the egg yolks. Stir in the boiling water to make the dressing moist and sticky.

Spoon into the cavity of a turkey and bake according to instructions.

Or, spread the stuffing in a buttered 13- by 9-inch baking dish. Brush the surface with the melted butter. Bake at 325 degrees until it begins to brown around the edges, 45 to 55 minutes.

This recipe yields 8 to 10 servings.

Each of 10 servings: 151 calories; 137 mg. sodium; 47 mg. cholesterol; 11 grams fat; 2 grams saturated fat; 11 grams carbohydrates; 4 grams protein; 1.32 grams fiber.
