Freezer Streusel

Recipe Ingredients

1 cup 146g / 5.1ozChopped walnuts
1 1/2 cups 240g / 8.5ozBrown sugar - (firmly packed)
1/4 cup 15g / 0.5ozUnbleached flour
1 tablespoon 15mlGround cinnamon - (to 1 1/2 tbspns)
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlFreshly ground nutmeg - (optional)
1/8 teaspoon 0.6mlSalt
1 1/2 teaspoons 7.5mlVanilla extract
1/2 cup 99g / 3.5ozVery cold butter - cut in 8 chunks

Recipe Instructions

Place walnuts, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and vanilla in work bowl of food processor. Pulse briefly to combine. (Prepare in 2 batches, if necessary.) Add butter chunks and process to make a coarse, crumbly mixture. Store in resealable plastic bags or airtight container in freezer.

This recipe yields 3 to 3 1/2 cups streusel.

Each tablespoon: 61 calories; 28 mg sodium; 5 mg cholesterol; 3 grams fat; 8 grams carbohydrates; 0 protein; 0.12 gram fiber.
