Freezer Streusel Recipe - Cooking Index
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Chopped walnuts |
1 1/2 cups | 240g / 8.5oz | Brown sugar - (firmly packed) |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Unbleached flour |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Ground cinnamon - (to 1 1/2 tbspns) |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Freshly ground nutmeg - (optional) |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Salt |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Vanilla extract |
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Very cold butter - cut in 8 chunks |
Place walnuts, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and vanilla in work bowl of food processor. Pulse briefly to combine. (Prepare in 2 batches, if necessary.) Add butter chunks and process to make a coarse, crumbly mixture. Store in resealable plastic bags or airtight container in freezer.
This recipe yields 3 to 3 1/2 cups streusel.
Each tablespoon: 61 calories; 28 mg sodium; 5 mg cholesterol; 3 grams fat; 8 grams carbohydrates; 0 protein; 0.12 gram fiber.
