Children's Crispy Chocolate Peanut Bars Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 cup | 164g / 5.8oz | Light corn syrup |
1/4 cup | 40g / 1.4oz | Light brown sugar - (packed) |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Peanut butter |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla extract |
2 cups | 320g / 11oz | Crisp rice cereal |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Corn flakes |
1 cup | 110g / 3.9oz | Semisweet chocolate chips - (6 oz) |
Butter - for greasing |
Place corn syrup, brown sugar and salt in medium saucepan and stir to mix ingredients well. Turn heat to medium-high and bring mixture to boil, 1 to 2 minutes. (Stand by stove and keep your eye on mixture). As soon as it reaches full boil, remove saucepan from heat.
Add peanut butter and stir until mixture is smooth and blended. Cool 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla, rice cereal and corn flakes, and when they are almost completely mixed in, add chocolate chips. Continue stirring until cereal is thoroughly blended -- chocolate will melt slightly, forming a marbled pattern.
Press and pat mixture evenly into greased 8-inch-square baking dish; chill in refrigerator until firm, 2 hours. Cut into 2-inch squares.
