3 tablespoons | 45ml | Brown sugar - (packed) |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla extract |

1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Maple extract - (optional) |
2 cups | 474ml | Granola |
1/2 cup | 46g / 1.6oz | Sweetened shredded coconut |
3/4 cup | 109g / 3.8oz | Chopped dates |
1/3 cup | 53g / 1.9oz | Raisins |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Flour |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Sesame seeds |
2/3 cup | 157ml | Whole pecans |
Stir together butter, honey, syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, egg and maple extract. Blend in granola, coconut, dates, raisins, cinnamon, salt, flour, sesame seeds and pecans.
Spoon into 9-inch-square baking pan lined with parchment paper. Place pan on baking sheet. Bake on lower rack of 350-degree oven until top seems set, about 20 to 25 minutes.
Cool, then freeze or refrigerate about 1 hour before cutting into squares.
This recipe yields 12 squares.
Each square: 324 calories; 185 mg sodium; 38 mg cholesterol; 17 grams fat; 42 grams carbohydrates; 4 grams protein; 0.70 gram fiber.
Variation: Substitute dried cranberries for dates and add 1/2 teaspoon orange oil and 2 teaspoons finely minced orange zest. Can also add 1 cup chocolate chips.
