Chocolate Oat Melties

Recipe Ingredients

1 cup 198g / 7ozButter or margarine - (2 sticks)
1 cup 160g / 5.6ozLight brown sugar - (firmly packed)
1 tablespoon 15mlGrated orange peel
2 cups 125g / 4.4ozQuick-cooking oats
1 cup 62g / 2.2ozAll-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups 414mlM&M's semi-sweet or milk
  Chocolate baking bits - (a 12-oz pkg)

Recipe Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a bowl beat butter, sugar, and orange peel until light and fluffy. Add oatmeal and flour; mix until well blended. Stir in M&M's chocolate baking bits.

Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls; place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press balls very lightly to flatten using the bottom of a glass.

Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden around edges. Cool 10 minutes on cookie sheet before transferring to plate. Store in tightly covered container.

This recipe yields about 3 dozen cookies.
