Basic Barbecue Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
This sauce stores beautifully in the freezer.
Courses: Sauces1 tablespoon | 15ml | Olive oil |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Onion - chopped (medium) |
1 1/4 cups | 296ml | Tomato sauce |
1 | Bay leaf | |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Curry powder |
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste | ||
1 tablespoon | 15ml | White vinegar |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Dry mustard |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Hot pepper sauce |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Chopped parsley |
In a medium saucepan, heat the oil and saute the onion until tender, about 5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.
Discard the bay leaf and transfer the sauce to a container.
This recipe yields 12 servings. Serving size: 2 tablespoons.
