Carob Brownies Recipe - Cooking Index
Perfect to make on a rainy day. So easy, we don't know who will make them more you or your kids!
Courses: Dessert1/2 cup | 118ml | Unsweetened applesauce |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Honey |
1 | Egg | |
1 | Egg white | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla |
1/3 cup | 36g / 1.3oz | Carob powder or cocoa |
2/3 cup | 41g / 1.4oz | Unbleached flour |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Baking powder |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Chopped walnuts - (optional) |
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. In a large bowl, beat together the applesauce, honey, egg, egg white, and vanilla.
In a small bowl, combine the carob, flour, and baking powder. Add to the applesauce mixture. Stir in the nuts. Pour the mixture into an oiled 8- by 8-inch baking pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely. Cut into squares.
This recipe yields 12 servings. Serving size: 1 brownie.
