Marinara Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
This all-time favorite sauce for pasta can be used time after time to make a quick, delicious dinner. Add vegetables, any kind of protein, or herbs and spices to create many variations. This sauce also freezes well.

1 | Tomatoes - (16 oz) - with their liquid | |
1 | Tomato paste - (6 oz) | |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Sugar |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Minced fresh basil |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste |
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the oil. Add the garlic and onion and saute for 3 minutes.
Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes until thick.
This recipe yields 6 servings. Serving size: 1/2 cup.
