Charleston Gumbo Recipe - Cooking Index
Traditional Southern farmers beat their okra with a stick to make it grow better. Try it: take a small branch and lightly smack each plant.

4 cups | 948ml | Sliced okra |
1 | Tomatoes - (32 oz) | |
= (or 4 medium fresh tomatoes) | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste | ||
1 | Worcestershire sauce |
Fry the bacon and onion in a medium saucepan until browned. Drain off the fat, then add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 to 2 hours.
This recipe yields 6 servings. Serving size: 3/4 cup.
