Savory Pea Soup With Sausage

Recipe Ingredients

8 oz 227gSmoked sausage - halved lengthwise,
  Then cut into 1/2" pieces
1   Dried split peas - (16 oz) - sorted, rinsed
3   Carrots - sliced (medium)
2   Celery ribs - sliced
1   Onion - chopped (medium)
3/4 teaspoon 3.8mlDried marjoram leaves
1   Bay leaf
2   Reduced-sodium chicken broth - (14 1/2 oz ea)

Recipe Instructions

Heat small skillet over medium heat. Add sausage; cook 5 to 8 minutes or until browned. Drain well.

Combine sausage and remaining ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW 4 to 5 hours or until peas are tender.

Turn off heat. Remove and discard bay leaf. Cover and let stand 15 minutes to thicken.

This recipe yields 6 servings.
