Sweet-Sour Beef Stew Recipe - Cooking Index
2 lbs | 908g / 32oz | Stewing beef - cut 1 1/2" cubes |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Flour |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Freshly-ground black pepper |
4 tablespoons | 60ml | Shortening |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Chopped onion |
6 cups | 660g / 23oz | Carrots - cut 3/4" pieces (large) |
1/4 cup | 40g / 1.4oz | Brown sugar |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Vinegar |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Worcestershire sauce |
Mix flour, salt, and pepper; dredge beef with mixture. Heat shortening in skillet and brown meat well. Place carrots in bottom of crock pot. Add meat and onions. Combine remaining ingredients and add to crock pot. Cook 8 to 10 hours on LOW.
Serve with noodles or rice.
This recipe yields 6 to 8 servings.
