Apple And Prune Chutney

Delicious with pork, ham or cheese.

Serves: 8 people

Recipe Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs 681g / 24ozApples - peeled, cored, and chopped
2 3/4 lbs 1248g / 44ozPrunes - washed, chopped, stones removed
1 lb 454g / 16ozOnions - peeled, chopped
2 cups 474mlSultanas
2 cups 474mlApple-vinegar
2 2/3 cups 426g / 15ozSoft brown sugar - (pressed firmly)
1 tablespoon 15mlSalt
1 teaspoon 5mlGround allspice
1 teaspoon 5mlGround ginger
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlGround nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlGround cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlGround cloves
2 teaspoons 10mlMustard seed
  Sterilized glass jars

Recipe Instructions

Bring all the ingredients to the boil in a fairly large pan. Reduce the heat. Simmer (with a lid on the pan) for approximately 2 hours. When the mixture is thick enough, pour the chutney in sterilized jars and close them immediately.
