Le Prads' Onion Pickles Recipe - Cooking Index
1 | Boiling onions | |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Salt |
5 cups | 990g / 34oz | Sugar |
5 cups | 1185ml | Vinegar |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Celery seed |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Turmeric |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Ground mustard |
Soak onions (which have been chopped) in ice for 2 hours. Take 1/2 cup salt and sprinkle among onions in ice water. Drain well.
Make syrup of sugar, vinegar, celery seed, turmeric and mustard. Let syrup come to a boil. Add onions and let come to a boil. Pack in jars and seal at once.
