Zippy Shrimp Spread Recipe - Cooking Index
3 cups | 711ml | Water |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Unpeeled medium-size fresh shrimp |
2 | Cream cheese - (3 oz ea) - softened | |
1/3 cup | 78ml | Catsup |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Grated onion |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Prepared horseradish |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Ground red pepper |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Worcestershire sauce |
Bring water to a boil; add shrimp, and cook 3 to 5 minutes or until shrimp turn pink. Drain well; rinse with cold water. Chill. Peel and devein shrimp. Reserve 3 shrimp for garnish; coarsely chop remaining shrimp. Set aside.
Combine cream cheese and remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until blended. Stir in chopped shrimp. Spoon shrimp mixture into a small serving bowl; cover and chill at least 2 hours.
Garnish with reserved whole shrimp. Serve with assorted crackers.
This recipe yields 1 1/4 cups.
