Shrimp Hot Brown Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Unpeeled medium-size fresh shrimp |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Butter or margarine - melted |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Butter or margarine |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | All-purpose flour |
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Milk |
1 | Instant broth and seasoning | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Old Bay seafood seasoning |
4 | Sandwich bread - toasted | |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Shredded Cheddar cheese - (2 oz) |

4 | Bacon - cooked, crumbled |
Peel and devein shrimp. Cook shrimp in 2 tablespoons butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat 5 minutes or until shrimp turn pink, stirring occasionally. Remove shrimp from saucepan, and set aside.
Melt 3 tablespoons butter in saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Stir in instant broth and Old Bay seasoning.
Place toast in an ungreased 11- by 7- by 2-inch baking dish; top evenly with shrimp. Spoon sauce over shrimp. Sprinkle evenly with cheese. Top each with a tomato slice. Bake, uncovered, at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Sprinkle with bacon. Serve immediately.
