Shrimp Hot Brown

Recipe Ingredients

1/2 lb 227g / 8ozUnpeeled medium-size fresh shrimp
2 tablespoons 30mlButter or margarine - melted
3 tablespoons 45mlButter or margarine
3 tablespoons 45mlAll-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups 355mlMilk
1   Instant broth and seasoning
1 teaspoon 5mlOld Bay seafood seasoning
4   Sandwich bread - toasted
1/2 cup 73g / 2.6ozShredded Cheddar cheese - (2 oz)
4   Tomato
4   Bacon - cooked, crumbled

Recipe Instructions

Peel and devein shrimp. Cook shrimp in 2 tablespoons butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat 5 minutes or until shrimp turn pink, stirring occasionally. Remove shrimp from saucepan, and set aside.

Melt 3 tablespoons butter in saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Stir in instant broth and Old Bay seasoning.

Place toast in an ungreased 11- by 7- by 2-inch baking dish; top evenly with shrimp. Spoon sauce over shrimp. Sprinkle evenly with cheese. Top each with a tomato slice. Bake, uncovered, at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Sprinkle with bacon. Serve immediately.
