Cherry Granola Kugel Recipe - Cooking Index
Karen Barnett-Woods of Naperville, Illinois says, "Kugel is very popular during the Jewish holidays and is generally served hot in the evening, either as part of the main course or dessert. My family also likes kugel hot or cold for breakfast."
Serves: 10 people1 | Wide egg noodles - (12 ounces) | |
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Margarine or butter |
8 oz | 227g | Cream cheese |
12 oz | 340g | Cherry preserves |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Frozen sweet dark cherries - (to 1 1/2) - pitted |
4 | Eggs | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Cinnamon |
1 cup | 237ml | Milk |
Granola Topping | ||
1 cup | 40g / 1.4oz | Granola cereal |
1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Butter - melted |
Cinnamon to taste |
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook noodles; drain.
Put noodles back in the pot over low heat, mix in butter and cheese until melted.
Beat eggs and milk together and pour into noodle mixture. Add cinnamon. Stir in cherry preserves and cherries.
Pour noodle mixture into greased 9- by 13-inch pan.
Mix together butter and granola and sprinkle over kugel. Sprinkle cinnamon on top.
Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.
This recipe yields 10 servings.
