Granny Smith Oatmeal Waffles Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 cups | 93g / 3.3oz | All-purpose flour |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Rolled oats |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking powder |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Ground cinnamon |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Ground nutmeg |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Eggs (large) |
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Buttermilk |
4 tablespoons | 60ml | Vegetable oil |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Brown sugar - (packed) |

1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Vanilla extract |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Granny Smith apples - grated (medium) |
Stir together flour, oats, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg in mixing bowl.
Beat eggs in a separate bowl; stir in buttermilk, oil, brown sugar or honey, and vanilla.
Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients, stirring just until blended. Fold in the grated apple. Cover and let batter sit for 1 hour before using.
Preheat waffle iron.
Pour batter from cup or pitcher onto center of hot waffle iron. Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Remove waffle carefully.
This recipe yields 4 to 6 waffles.
