1 tablespoon | 15ml | Butter or margarine - softened |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Milk or cream - (to) |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Vanilla |
Lightly grease a 9- by 13-inch pan.
In a medium bowl, pour roll mix, mixing in the provided yeast. Add sugar, stirring to mix. Stir in water, butter or margarine and egg. Stir until dough leaves side of bowl.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Form into a ball and knead for 5 minutes until dough is smooth. Rinse a bowl in hot water, dry and turn upside down over dough. Allow to rest 5 minutes. Then, on a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 15- by 10-inch rectangle. Mix butter or margarine with softened honey and spread on dough.
In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle mixture evenly over buttered dough. Sprinkle with raisins. Beginning at shorter end, roll dough tightly. Pinch edges together to seal.
Cut roll into 9 pieces. Place in prepared pan. Cover with clean towel. Let rise 30 minutes.
Remove towel and bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 1 minute. Remove from pan. Cool 10 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, butter, milk or cream and vanilla until smooth. Spread over warm rolls to glaze.
This recipe yields 9 rolls.
Variations: Use frozen bread dough, thawed, in place of hot roll mix.
Description:
"This recipe is based on Davidson's famous cinnamon rolls. Adding
honey to the butter adds a special flavor. A hot roll mix speeds up
the process."
