Easy Spanish Rice Recipe - Cooking Index
Turn this great side dish into an easy main dish by adding one pound of ground beef, sausage or turkey, cooked and crumbled.

1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Onion - chopped (1/2 cup) (medium) |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Vegetable oil |
2 1/2 cups | 592ml | Water |
1 | Tomato sauce - (8 oz) | |
1 | Green bell pepper - chopped (1/2 cup) (small) | |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Salt |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Chili powder |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Garlic powder |
Cook rice and onion in oil in 10-inch skillet over medium heat about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is golden brown and onion is tender.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender.
This recipe yields 6 servings, about 1/2 cup each.
