Mixed Grain And Wild Rice Cereal Recipe - Cooking Index
Prepare a batch of this breakfast dish and store it in the refrigerator. Then simply reheat single servings in the microwave.

1/2 cup | 80g / 2.8oz | Wild rice |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Pearl barley |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Steel-cut oats (Irish oatmeal) |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Bulgur wheat |
1/2 cup | 80g / 2.8oz | Raisins |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Chopped pitted dates |
1/4 cup | 40g / 1.4oz | Dark brown sugar - plus |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Dark brown sugar - (firmly packed) |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Butter |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Salt |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Ground cinnamon |
Simmer 2 cups water and wild rice in small saucepan 20 minutes. Drain.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter 2 1/2-quart ovenproof dish. In prepared dish, mix wild rice with remaining 6 cups water. Stir in all remaining ingredients. Cover loosely with foil and bake until grains are tender, water is absorbed and cereal is creamy, stirring occasionally, about 1 1/2 hours.
This recipe yields 8 servings.
