Spicy Beer Marinade Recipe - Cooking Index
Many marinades use wine, but while white wine is acceptable, I think that marinades containing red wine impart a sharp, bitter, and acrid flavor to grilled meat. Beer, on the other hand, is a delightful liquid for marinating, imparting an ever-so-slight malty flavor that goes particularly well with the smokiness of grilling. Use this marinade with sirloin steak, flank steak, or top round (often sold as London broil).
Courses: Marinades1 teaspoon | 5ml | Tabasco sauce |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Cider vinegar |
1 | Lager beer - (12 oz) | |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Coarse-grained mustard |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Worcestershire sauce |
= (or 1 tbspn A-1 steak sauce) | ||
1/2 cup | 118ml | Soy sauce |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Minced garlic |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Minced onion |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Freshly-ground black pepper |
Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl.
This recipe yields 2 1/2 cups, enough for two 1 1/2- to 2-pound steaks.
