Grill-Steamed Sesame Green Beans Recipe - Cooking Index
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Toasted sesame oil |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Low-sodium soy sauce |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Granulated sugar |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Green beans - ends trimmed |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Toasted sesame seeds |
Prepare the grill for indirect cooking. If you have a charcoal grill, build the fire on one side of the grill, or around the sides of the grill, leaving an empty space in the middle. For a gas grill, if it has controls for the left and right, heat one side. If you have front and back burners, heat the back.
In a small bowl, whisk together the oil, soy sauce and sugar; set aside.
Rinse the beans in a colander and shake off any excess water. Place a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil on the work surface. Mound the green beans in the center. Bring the sides of the foil up to form a bowl.
Drizzle the beans with the sesame-soy mixture, sprinkle with the sesame seeds and toss to coat. Bring the foil all the way up and over the beans to form a loose packet. Fold the edges together to form a tight seal.
Place the packet on the grill over indirect heat. Cover the grill and cook the beans, maintaining the temperature at about 350 degrees, until the beans are cooked through, 25 to 30 minutes.
To serve, transfer the beans and dressing to a shallow bowl and toss to combine.
