For Caesar Toast: Cut 8 to 12 slices of French bread 1/8-inch thick; brush both sides with olive oil and sprinkle with a little garlic salt; place bread on a baking sheet and bake in a 300 degree oven about 30 minutes or until slices are dry and crisp.
Hamburgers: Drain anchovy fillets; remove 4 fillets, roll up jelly-roll style and set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl mash the remaining anchovy fillets; stir in Worcestershire sauce and pepper; add ground beef. Mix well and shape into four 3/4-inch thick patties. Place in grill basket if desired; grill patties, on an uncovered grill, directly over medium-hot heat for 6 minutes. Turn and grill to desired doneness, allowing about 6 minutes for medium.
For each serving, place one romaine leaf atop 2 or 3 pieces of Caesar Toast. Top with a meat patty, 1/4 of cheese and onion and one rolled anchovy fillet.
