Oven Or Grill Baked BBQ Beans

This is a typical BBQ bean recipe, which can be started in the oven and finished on the grill. It is particularly good with ribs or beef brisket and other smoked meats.

Recipe Ingredients

2 lbs 908g / 32ozSmall white beans - presoaked overnight,
  Cooked until tender, and drained
  = (or 10 to 12 cans white beans, drained)
2 cups 474mlCatsup
1 cup 237mlMustard
1 cup 160g / 5.6ozBrown sugar
1/2 cup 118mlMolasses
1/2 cup 118mlCoffee
1 cup 237mlCider vinegar
1/4 cup 59mlLiquid smoke
4 cups 948mlHam in 1" dice
4   Onions diced
3 tablespoons 45mlCurry powder
1 teaspoon 5mlCayenne pepper
1 tablespoon 15mlGranulated garlic
  Salt - to taste
  Water - as needed

Recipe Instructions

While the beans are cooking, saute the onions until transparent, cook the diced ham until crisp, and then mix everything together in a large ovenproof pot.

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours until the top has browned and formed a crust.

Cook them on the grill for several hours along with the meat, stirring occasionally so that they absorb some of the smoke flavor from the cooking. If they get too dry, add some water.
