Venison Paprika Recipe - Cooking Index
Venison is really good in any tomato-based dish, like spaghetti, but here's a good one for cubed steak.
Serves: 1 people3 lbs | 1362g / 48oz | Venison steak |
1/8 lb | 56g / 2oz | Butter |
4 lbs | 1816g / 64oz | Onions - finely diced (medium) |
2 | Garlic cloves - minced | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Marjoram |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Diced tomatoes |
1 cup | 237ml | Dry sherry |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Paprika |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Sour cream |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Flour |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste |
Cut steak into one-inch cubes. In a paper bag, place flour, salt and pepper. Shake cubes of steak until dusted. In large skillet, melt butter. When hot, add cubes of steak and lightly brown them. Remove steak and to pan add onions, minced garlic, marjoram, tomatoes, wine and paprika. Cook slowly with lid on skillet for 15 minutes. Add the steak, replace lid and cook slowly until steak is tender, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Stir in sour cream and serve.
