1 cup | 237ml | Milk |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking powder |

2 tablespoons | 30ml | Drippings or bacon fat |
Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl, make a hollow in the center, break the egg into this and add half the milk. Mix and beat to a smooth batter, adding the remaining milk gradually.
Parboil the elk sausages, skin and split them, then place them in a roasting pan in which the drippings have been melted and heated. Pour the batter over them and bake in a moderate oven -- 350 to 375 degrees for about half an hour. Cut into squares for serving and serve plain or with brown gravy or tomato sauce.
