Hot Buttered Rum Mix

This is a great favorite at our holiday house. My wife Patty began making this when our boys were very tiny. I would put up the Christmas tree and Patty would make the two of us a Hot Buttered Rum. The boys would get out their little Santa Claus cups and have Hot Buttereds, no rum, of course. This drink is very good without the rum, so everyone in the house can get in on the act.

Serves: 1 people

Recipe Ingredients

1 lb 454g / 16ozLight brown sugar
1 lb 454g / 16ozConfectioners' sugar
1/2 lb 227g / 8ozButter - at room temperature
1   Vanilla ice cream - slightly melted
  Light rum
  Ground nutmeg - for garnish

Recipe Instructions

In a large bowl blend the first four ingredients together well. Add rum to taste and garnish with nutmeg.

To make 1 drink, put 2 tablespoons of the ice-cream mixture in a mug. Add 1 jigger of rum and fill the mug with boiling water. Garnish the top with the nutmeg.

Freeze the remaining ice-cream mixture in a plastic container for future use. This recipe serves the neighborhood.
