Dumplings Recipe - Cooking Index
I absolutely love dumplings. These are so easy they should be a regular part of your cooking repertoire.
Courses: Side dish2 1/2 cups | 156g / 5.5oz | Flour |
3 teaspoons | 15ml | Baking powder |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Shortening |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Chopped parsley |
1 1/4 cups | 296ml | Milk |
Mix dry ingredients and cut in shortening, using a pastry blender, until the mixture is coarse and grainy. Add chopped parsley and, using a wooden fork, stir in the milk. Do not overmix. It should take only a few turns to get a dough.
Drop by large spoonfuls on top of simmering stew or very thick soup. Simmer 5 minutes with the lid off the pot, then cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes longer.
Serve immediately. Makes about 12 dumplings.
