Smothered Green Beans Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Chopped bacon |
1/4 cup | 36g / 1.3oz | Diced ham |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Diced onion |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Chopped garlic |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Green beans - trimmed |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste |
In a saucepan cook bacon until fat begins to render. Add ham, onion and garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add beans and 1 cup water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until beans are very tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Drain. Transfer to a warm dish for serving.
