Trail Drive And Bunkhouse Milk Gravy Recipe - Cooking Index
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Meat drippings, bacon drippings, or lard |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Unbleached all-purpose flour |
1 | Evaporated milk - (12 oz) | |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-ground black pepper - to taste |
In a large skillet, heat the drippings over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the flour turns golden. Add the milk and half a can of water. Cook, stirring, until the gravy is smooth and thickened. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve over biscuits.
This recipe yields about 2 cups of gravy.
