Follow the directions for "Curried Split Pea Soup," omitting the curry powder, coriander, and cardamom. If a green-pea color is preferable, omit the tomatoes as well. After the soup is pureed, return any meat, but not the ham bone. If the soup is too thick, thin with either cream, chicken stock, or water. A basket of diced fried or toasted croutons is a must.
