1/2 cup | 118ml | Strong tea |
1 1/2 cups | 93g / 3.3oz | Flour |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Ground cloves |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Cinnamon |
1/4 cup | 23g / 0.8oz | Slivered almonds |
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat egg whites. Add sugar, oil, honey, and tea, mixing well. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon. Stir in the flour and spice mixture in several additions. Pour mixture into a 9- by 5-inch loaf pan lined with wax paper. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes. (Bake at 325 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes if using a glass pan.) When cake is cool, cut into 1/2-inch slices.
