Mint Julep - 1 Recipe - Cooking Index
See Directions |
Most of the recipes begin "Into a Sterling silver cup put...." You put in about a teaspoonful of fine, crystalline sugar (not powdered--it will turn to stone) and a teaspoonful of water.
This is where arguments begin. Add a couple of sprigs of mint and mash it - or don't mash it. Fill the cup with crushed ice.
Some people put this into the refrigerator or freezer for a while. Fill the cup with the best bourbon you can get. Stir.
The outside of the cup should frost and freeze--too cold to handle for long. After the first one, you can use cheap bourbon; no one will notice.
